Tsuga mertensiana

In the wild, a tree 50 to 90' high, but much less under cultivation. Typically forms a slender pyramidal outline with slender pendent branches which may be related to its ability to shed snow loads. Prefers cool, moist root run and cooler air temperatures. Foliage color is distinctly different than other species.  (Michael A Dirr)
